Welcome to Chester-le-Street Bowling Club 2023
". . . The welcome that I had was overpowering, with help and advice . . . my summer days were made magical . . ."
We are a very friendly club dating back to 1934 with both male and female members and we are always looking to recruit new members.
The greens have been closed for the winter but the new season will start in the next couple of weeks. Please see our latest news for updates.
We will continue our twice-weekly "Roll-Up" on Fridays and Sundays 10am 'til noon during the playing season, and casual bowling is also available at these times. In addition, if you just want to give it a try, or see if you still have the knack from long ago, please use our Contact form to arrange.
Our clubhouse is located within Riverside Park, Chester-le-Street with a backdrop of the magnificent Lumley Castle, and the River Wear flowing close by.
The club will be competing in 3 leagues in 2023:
- Monday Pelton Fell & District League
- Tuesday Durham County Bowling Federation Veterans Section (Central Division)
- Thursday Sunderland & District Bowling Association - Howey League
The club also shares its facilities with the Durham Croquet club .
PARKING RESTRICTIONS
Streets in the residential areas near the park are now designated as "Residents Only Permit".
Visitors should therefore park in the Riverside car park for which charges apply.
Please note the car park can be very busy during school holidays or when there is a cricket match on.
